This particular program is one that I have been wanting to participate in for quite some time, but have not yet had the opportunity. The program did not run last year, but I just received an e-mail about this year's upcoming event:
Thank you for your interest in the 2013 NCLRC Spanish Immersion Institute. We are sorry that we were not able to offer the institute last year, but our plans are in place for 2014 and we hope that you continue to be interested in attending the Spanish Immersion Institute. The dates are Sunday, June 22 – Wednesday, June 25. The information is now posted on our website, including the registration form. http://nclrc.org/profdev/
Our line-up of Embassies has expanded to include three venues: the Embassy of Spain, the Embassy of Uruguay, and the Mexican Cultural Institute. In addition, we will have a docent-led tour of the Spanish collection, in Spanish, at the National Gallery of Art, plus some possible evening activities.
The cost of the Institute is nearly all-inclusive (materials, lodging, and most meals). Local transportation and one lunch will be the responsibility of the participant, as will additions to the menus beyond what is stipulated.
As you make your travel plans, please keep in mind that you need to be checking in at the residence hall no later than 5:00 pm on June 22. Please do not make return reservations that will require you to be at the airport or train station before 3:00 pm on June 25.
A full schedule of topics to be included will be available soon; the embassy personnel are still fine-tuning their plans. Please do not hesitate to contact me as you make your plans to join us in Washington, D.C. in June.
Though this particular summer institute is for Spanish teachers specifically, NCLRC offers programs relating to all languages- right here at home in our own nation's capital. :-)
