Chile is another country offering teaching assistant opportunities. CIEE offers one (see previous post for further information) while two other programs have options available:
English Opens Doors: "Supported by the Chilean Ministry of Education and the UN Development Programme, the English Opens Doors Program works with native and near-native English speakers between 21 and 35 years old to teach English in Chile under the direction of head teachers in public and semi-private schools."

The program provides housing with a host family as well as a $120 monthly stipend for classroom assistants. A former student of mine will actually be partaking in this program beginning June 2013! So excited to see a love for Spanish, teaching and cross-cultural communication continue on to future generations!
Teaching Chile: Offers jobs to serve as actual classroom teachers in various schools throughout Chile. Teachers receive a salary after paying an application fee and $1300 placement fee. Positions are for 10 months during the Chilean school year calendar. Other types of opportunities are also available.
